Different animals eat different things.
All animals need food to survive. Who eats what?



The squirrel is an herbivore.
Herbivores eat only plants. Nuts such as walnuts and hazelnuts make
tasty meals for the squirrel. It also eats berries. The squirrel uses its sharp teeth to break the shells off nuts.



The chimpanzee is an omnivore, too.
It eats fruits, leaves, grains, birds, termites, and other insects.
Which fruit does a chimp like best of all? Nice, ripe bananas.

The rabbit is also an herbivore.
Carrots are one of the rabbit’s favorite foods.
Grasses, grains, roots, and different vegetables are
some of the other things that rabbits eat.



The cat is another carnivore.
It likes to eat meat and fish. Cats think mice are yummy.
As kittens, they drink their mother’s milk.
But when they grow older, they drink milk
or water from a bowl.



The wolf is a carnivore.
Carnivores are animals that eat meat.
The wolf hunts other animals for meat.



The kingfisher bird is a carnivore, too.
It dives into rivers to catch food.
It uses its long beak to catch fish.

The mouse is an omnivore.
It eats plants, meat-anything!
A mouse’s favorite food of all is cheese!
